Meditation is a practice that offers the mind the opportunity to focus and rest, to be able to move through the conscious mind to reach the innermost self which is a space that is peaceful and silent. The practice of Meditation helps one become mindful, calm, enjoy a feeling of inner peace. Regular meditation practice brings about a heightened state of awareness. There are several ways to meditate including focusing on the breath, or on an object, visualisation, walking meditation, chanting meditation to name a few.
In the world today, there is so much stimulus that keeps our minds full of thoughts all the time. Meditation helps us release the constant avalanche of stimuli and give our minds a chance to rest and in that resting is where one finds the peace and quiet of the innermost self. When one finds that peace, one is able to respond mindfully instead of react in daily life through the awareness that one develops.
Practicing for a few minutes every day, allows one to feel the amazing benefits of this ancient and beautiful practice.
